Enviro day

On Friday we joined forces with Totara and Manuka to do some much need maintenance. Mrs Bates took a group to weed the veggie planters, Whaea Jorja's group set and placed the traps in the wetlands and Rob's group finished the floating duck house, while Willie and some helpers cut down pine and Manuka trees. It was a great day and we got heaps done!

Making our floating duck house

Today we started building our floating duck house prototype. Cooper had the winning design. His attributes for making a floating house to keep predators out swung the judges! We made our floating duck house out of bits of old junk that were sitting in a shed.

First Day back after Lock Down

Today we went back to school after what seems like months away. The first thing we did was to re train the ducks to feed from the pond. Cooper had to tempt them up the hill with chicken mash! He did an awesome job and got them up the hill in record time!

Miniature Homemade greenhouses

Today Kauri class made their own homemade greenhouses. We used a variety of plastic materials.

Some of us used plastic bags, cotton wool, water and a paper cut out in the shape of a greenhouse. We watered the cotton wool before placing the seeds on the cotton wool carefully so they stayed on them. Finally we placed the bags by a  window to harness the sun's energy. Watch this space to see how our seeds grow!

Properties of 3D Shapes

In maths we have been discussing the properties of three dimensional shapes. We are learning that a 3D shape has edges, faces and vertices. To get better at remembering these different properties we have made our own 3D shapes.
