Tree Felling

Big thanks to Jim Oxton who cut down the dead kanuka in the orchard. It needed to come down before the outdoor learning space gets built early next year. Many of the branches will be used in the structure of the outdoor learning space.

Outdoor Learning Space

Today Rob, Willie and a group from Manuka worked in the orchard trying to get it ready for the builders to start work on the outdoor learning space next term!

We limbed Manuka branches so they can be used on the railings of the learning space. We also made another raised planter bed so that we can get sand and bark delivered in the holidays.

Clay Honey Pots

Rob, Su and Scout have been learning how to pot in Kaitaia for the last few weekends. We have made around 20 honey pots for students to paint and glaze, and fill with honey ready for market day. Hopefully the cork bungs make it from Portugal in time!
Thanks to Meg, Jimmy, Pia, and Taylor for your help painting the honey pots last weekend.

Doubtless Bay Garden Safari

Thanks to Mary and John Ralph for letting us pitch our honey stall in their gorgeous garden last weekend. Thanks also to Cooper for being such an amazing ambassador for our school and selling more honey.

Kowhai Bee Towels

Kauri have been supporting Kowhai to set up their teatowel project for market day this year. Scout and Lewis went with Rob to see Julien at Taipa turn Kowhai's bee designs in to silk screen templates ready for printing on to teatowels.

Number 8 Wire

We have started our market day projects and it is great mixing with Totara and Manuka. Watch this space to see how we are getting on!

Ducklings

We are starting to see ducks nesting and having little ducklings. We have two new arrivals who seem to enjoy their new home in our school pond.

Kerikeri Garden Safari

This weekend we had our stall at Kerikeri Garden Safari. It was a great couple of days and we raised $420 selling our honey. All of the students did a great job. Well done team!
