Finished...almost!
The teachers and teacher aides pulled in a mammoth effort to get ready for the dress rehearsal of Tinker tomorrow. They got the hall looking really nice while Rob got the anglerfish masks finished. Thanks again to Mel who came in with the fish prop for Jake. All we need now are the students to do their awesome performances!

Glow in the dark rods
Today we borrowed Willy's new drill to fix the glow in the dark rods to the masks. When the ping pong balls arrive they will make the fleshy bait at the end of the lure.

Enviroday
Great Enviroday today. A group of students went to Taupo Bay to do a beach clean up audit, Mrs Bates made mandarin jam with the food group and Rob's group used the worm wee from Puriri to feed the fruit trees in the orchard.
Flagpole
Today we hoisted the flag for the first time. T.K. said the karakia for us and Cooper had the honour of raising the flag as he is our 2020/21 enviro student leader.
Phonics
Kauri are really living their phonics lessons. This week we have been practising er sounds. Look how many different combinations we found!

Anglerfish Masks
Today we dabbed dry black paint and glitter onto our masks and made the fins. Rob has ordered the glow sticks and glow in the dark paint so we really are getting there. The production dance is looking great too.

Dune Restoration Planting Day
Today Rob, Cooper Nichols, Leah, Bella and Luke Jenner Mattock helped out Ngati Kahu by planting riparian plants at Lake Waiporohita in the Karikari peninsula. We helped to plant 2000 plants before lunchtime and had a great time with students from Taipa, Mangonui and Paparore.
