Kauri class rat trap stations
Toady, after Kauri class had set our traps we decided on the best places for them to catch pests. After we placed them, we plotted the coordinates into our database here.
Enviro Day
Today we had our first enviro day for a while. It was great fun. We set our new rat traps, gave them a code and placed them in their new locations. We are using trap.nz to store the pest kill information on a national database.
Once we had done that we gave Puriri and Kowhai class a talk on caring for the ducks. We had some great questions. Mrs Bates kindly took a group from Kauri class to cook up the latest batch of eggs. They made enough to feed three classes!

Our first scrambled duck egg for breakfast club
Today was a special day because we got to eat our first batch of duck eggs.
Cory, Luke and Tyler helped to collect the eggs. Then they gave them to Taz, Lyrik and Peter to cook.
First they cleaned the eggs, then they placed them in a bowl of water to see if they sank (this means that they are fresh).
Then Lyrik cracked the shells and carefully placed the egg yokes in a bowl. After that they whisked the eggs and mixed in milk, cheese and pepper. We microwaved the mixture, while removing to stir occasionally.
Only 5 eggs fed around twenty students. It was great having Mr Pickard and Mrs Bates helping as well. Well done everybody!

Duck eggs
Cory invited his whanau to school over the weekend to show them our ducks. They went on an egg hunt and discovered where they have been laying!
Here are the students celebrating the first egg we have collected! We still have some way to go before we have scrambled eggs on the breakfast club menu!

Learning Together
Yesterday for our Learning Together we made weather vanes in Kauri class. The students did really well in a short time to make their weather vanes in their groups and then predict and use their weather vanes to show the wind direction.
