Rotary Dictionaries

Thank you so much Robert and Mike for delivering and presenting this year's Rotary Club dictionaries to our year four students. It was amazing of you to travel from Kerikeri on such a turbulent week. We are hugely grateful.

Enviro Day

On Friday Manuka, Totara and Kauri classes spent the day working on some of our enviro projects. Whaea Meg took groups gardening. They worked really hard clearing the Agapanthus from the bank by the orchard. Whaea Jorja was working with groups to make kiwi awareness posters and thank you cards for Bunnings. Rob's groups made tracking tunnels to see what pests we still have in the wetlands. It was great having some old pest experts return to Kauri to share their expertise!

Kauri Waste Management

Kauri class has come along way in six weeks. We have taken over the recycling and rubbish collection from Manuka class and are now managing the pig scraps.

We are building a dedicated space that will be kept locked so that no recycling can get contaminated by people putting the wrong things in the bins.

Peer Assessment

Today students went a step further with their tickled pink and green for growth and started peer assessing. This is great for students learning to give and receive feedback and feed forward, and big picture responsible risk taking.

Maths In Kauri Class

Kauri Class are really enjoying discussing their maths thinking and problem solving. It is great seeing lots of different ways to solve the same problem. This is great for students growth as they are able to learn from each other more.

Bunnings Enviro Day

On Thursday Bunnings worked with the juniors and some seniors to make three vegetable and herb raised planter beds, plant 15 lemon trees and make a bench for the top field. We all had a great day and are extremely grateful to Carol and her team for supporting us so amazingly.

Whanau Kauri

Whanau Kauri is moving along nicely now. We have six students coming along regularly now, with their whanau (brothers and sisters, mums, dads, and grandparents) to both the Monday and Thursday sessions after school.

Students are showing increased success and their whanau are learning how to support their children by mirroring what we have done in the classroom at home.
